COMPLETION

2022

This project involved the construction as well as the transportation of ten tree-shaped columns constructed from GL18 Glulam timber (6 layers  of 75mm nominal thickness HySpan). Weighing approximately 3 tons and standing at over 8 metres tall, these columns provide a striking feature to the entry foyer of the new La Trobe Creative Precinct constructed in the regional Victorian town of Traralgon.

Every column was cut using the CNC with precision and accuracy. Once that process was completed, the trees were sanded using the orbital sander, leaving a nice smooth finish, and two coats of paint. The steel connections joined together with the timber plugs. An impressive achievement of engineering and manufacturing.
