COMPLETION

2018

This project presented the unique opportunity to design and construct a 20,000m2 warehouse for clients in the timber wholesale business.Despite being a relatively standard warehouse layout, the use of timber for the entire construction was an unconventional move aimed at highlighting its potential in projects usually reserved for steel.

Specialised Timber Fabrication constructed box-beam portal frames from Hyspan LVL, with a span of 32m and bay spacing of 15m.3 of these box beam grids fitted together along the width of the warehouse to span an almost 100m distance. Over 1000m3 of LVL and plywood was used during fabrication.

This project was awarded the 2018 Innovative Structural Design from the Timber Design Award.
