An inner city Passive House gave Specialised Timber Fabrication the opportunity to provide a unique GLT portal-frame design. The GLT structural frame was expressed throughout in a post & beam arrangement, with the exposed timber aesthetic aligning with the project’s focus on natural materials and sustainability. Attention to detail and the building envelope ensured Passive House compliance. Masslam from ASH was utilised as the primary element, with secondary framing.

Solid Masslam stairs were detailed to completion, and installed with the GLT post & beams. CNC tolerance was required to achieve the highly detailed arrangement. This approach to architectural design resulted in an elegant and striking presence, while also keeping a minimal aesthetic.
