COMPLETION

2022

This unique residential project in regional Victoria involved a high degree of detail, with an unusual ‘origami’ roof shape and entirely exposed structural framing.  Specialist Timber Fabrication sourced Tasmanian Oak and laminated beams, with hidden screw and bolted connections to create a cleaner finish.  All framing components were pre-cut on our CNC machine in order to meet the intricate detailing requirements.

The building itself is a testament to the modern yet organic ambience of timber designs, with the visual and tactile presence of wood able to foster a connection to the natural world and provide a more human and engaging environment.

“This project champions Australian hardwood. Exposed rafters create a rich ornamentation, and textural use of timber achieves a rich aesthetic experience despite a restrained palette. The glue-laminated timber, sustainably produced from the same species of trees found on the land, connects the internal with the external and enhances the dwelling’s overall efficiency” [from Archier – Architects for the Off Grid House]
