Timber Concrete Composite
Overview
Timber Concrete Composite systems provide an option to CLT and Panelised floors. TCC Provides acoustic, fire rating and dynamic performance benefits. The concrete topping can be factory installed or onsite. The concrete topping provides a zone in which set downs, steps and conducts can be housed for electrical hydraulic or hydronic heating. TCC provides a more durable and weather resistant system, during construction. In some instances the concrete can be polished and epoxy coated.
Capabilities
TCC floor systems have many applications and can be used in various conditions. Timber Imagineering has applied this system for spans ranging from 4m to 14.5m. TCC is primarily used as an easier, more economical alternative to concrete. Timber Imagineering can provide costs for both cast-in-place and TCC options to see if it makes sense for your project.
Advantages of TCC:
-
Reduced floor depths and joist sizes by engaging concrete into the structural system.
-
CNC-cut structural plywood also acts as permanent formwork, with little or no propping required.
-
Lighter structure, resulting in smaller footings and reduced costs.
