External timber structures need to be carefully designed and detailed in order to make allowances for the dimensional changes to the timber done to seasonal weather. Heat will dry the timber while wet seasons will leave a smell on the timber. The use of Glulam and sawn timber are ideal for external and outdoor structures. Durability is an important constraint and the adoption of appropriate materials is important.
